The Practice is a monthly creative ritual for mothers, thoughtfully delivered to your letterbox. Each month, you'll receive a small collection of words, artwork and gentle creative practices designed to give you a moment to pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself within motherhood.
Each month includes:
A personal letter — a letter from me sharing what I've noticed, felt and been thinking about in my own motherhood journey.
A small art print — an piece of artwork to keep, display or spend some time with, accompanied by an intuitive message.
A gentle creative practice — a simple, gentle art-making exercise to help you pause, ground yourself and explore what's happening within. More on what is involved is down below with an A5 piece of paper
A supporting insert or resource to accompany the practice
A thoughtful prompt — an invitation to reflect on your own experience.
A small gift or token — a little something for you to receive and hold.
Your Motherlines Mail is designed to be experienced in your own time and at your own pace. There is no right way to use it, and nothing you need to complete.
The creative element sits at the heart of this tier.
These aren't art lessons, and you don't need to consider yourself artistic to take part. They are simple, accessible ways to slow down, ground yourself, and become more aware of what is happening within you.
Through colour, shape, mark-making, image and other forms of creative expression, you might explore a feeling, notice an impulse, express something that is difficult to put into words, or simply take a moment to see where you are.
There is no right or wrong way to do this, and nothing you need to create or achieve.
The intention behind including this each month:
To give you a moment that is entirely yours
To notice where you are — emotionally, mentally, sometimes physically
To help you transition from the noise of the day into a moment of stillness
To become a little more familiar with your own impulses
What can arise from the practice:
Naming a feeling, without needing to fix it
Recognising what's present, without judgement
Becoming more comfortable simply sitting with what is
No art experience is needed. You'll just need something to make marks with — your children's paints or crayons are more than enough. A mix of mediums is lovely, but not necessary. A5 paper is provided for you to draw on, or if you'd rather work larger, an A4 blank art journal works beautifully too.
